Interactive certificate for the verification of Wiedemann's Krylov sequence: application to the certification of the determinant, the minimal and the characteristic polynomials of sparse matrices

چکیده
Certificates to a linear algebra computation are additional data structures for each output, which can be used by a—possibly randomized— verification algorithm that proves the correctness of each output. Wiedemann’s algorithm projects the Krylov sequence obtained by repeatedly multiplying a vector by a matrix to obtain a linearly recurrent sequence. The minimal polynomial of this sequence divides the minimal polynomial of the matrix. For instance, if the n×n input matrix is sparse with n non-zero entries, the computation of the sequence is quadratic in the dimension of the matrix while the computation of the minimal polynomial is n, once that projected Krylov sequence is obtained. In this paper we give algorithms that compute certificates for the Krylov sequence of sparse or structured n × n matrices over an abstract field, whose Monte Carlo verification complexity can be made essentially linear. As an application this gives certificates for the determinant, the minimal and characteristic polynomials of sparse or structured matrices at the same cost.

Determinants and permanents of Hessenberg matrices and generalized Lucas polynomials
In this paper, we give some determinantal and permanental representations of generalized Lucas polynomials, which are a general form of generalized bivariate Lucas p-polynomials, ordinary Lucas and Perrin sequences etc., by using various Hessenberg matrices. In addition, we show that determinant and permanent of these Hessenberg matrices can be obtained by using combinations. Then we show, the ...
متن کاملBrenstien polynomials and its application to fractional differential equation
The paper is devoted to the study of Brenstien Polynomials and development of some new operational matrices of fractional order integrations and derivatives. The operational matrices are used to convert fractional order differential equations to systems of algebraic equations. A simple scheme yielding accurate approximate solutions of the couple systems for fractional differential equations is ...
متن کاملPreconditioned Generalized Minimal Residual Method for Solving Fractional Advection-Diffusion Equation
Introduction Fractional differential equations (FDEs) have attracted much attention and have been widely used in the fields of finance, physics, image processing, and biology, etc. It is not always possible to find an analytical solution for such equations. The approximate solution or numerical scheme may be a good approach, particularly, the schemes in numerical linear algebra for solving ...
متن کاملApplication of the exact operational matrices for solving the Emden-Fowler equations, arising in Astrophysics
The objective of this paper is applying the well-known exact operational matrices (EOMs) idea for solving the Emden-Fowler equations, illustrating the superiority of EOMs over ordinary operational matrices (OOMs). Up to now, a few studies have been conducted on EOMs ; but the solved differential equations did not have high-degree nonlinearity and the reported results could not strongly show the...
متن کاملOperational matrices with respect to Hermite polynomials and their applications in solving linear differential equations with variable coefficients
In this paper, a new and efficient approach is applied for numerical approximation of the linear differential equations with variable coeffcients based on operational matrices with respect to Hermite polynomials. Explicit formulae which express the Hermite expansion coeffcients for the moments of derivatives of any differentiable function in terms of the original expansion coefficients of the f...
